Common App Prompts Galore!

It's summer time and the living is easy...right? Yes, it can be, but summer is also a great time to get ahead of college application season. The 2021-2022 Common App prompts are live and this is a great time to get those college essays ready.

So what's your strategy?

  1. You want to be very decisive when selecting the correct prompts because you want an essay that really represents YOU.

  2. Answer the prompt, if it says DESCRIBE you want to tell who, what, when, where, why and how. If it says REFLECT, you want to give great detail about how you made a decision or came to a conclusion. If it says DISCUSS, pretend you are telling your life story and reflecting back on a great accomplishment.

  3. Don't be shy, but you want to impress without being boastful.

  4. Ask multiple people to review.

  5. CHECK FOR ERRORS! Admissions Departments are very clear that they will reject a very promising applicant because of sloppy essays.

Each year, many more students apply to UCLA than we can possibly admit. Many freshman applicants have strong academic records. Using the admission review process, we focus on successful applicants who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, leadership, initiative and tenacity. They are the students who would contribute the most to the UCLA learning community. They are the students who would make the most of immersion in UCLA’s dynamic learning environment.
